One of the principal tenets of Saint Ignatius’ College Riverview is to encourage authentic faith in our students, staff and wider community. Building on the rich tradition of the Jesuits, Ignatian spirituality remains at the core of an educational program that provides a relevant and faith-filled experience of Church that recognises the importance of inculturation and interreligious dialogue.
In the coming years, our specific priorities include:
- The development of a personal faith and relationship with God that enables students to become “men for others”. This is fostered through reflection days, retreats, the daily Examen and opportunities for prayer.
- A faith in action that is best expressed through service. Be it through Immersions, Ignatian Service or House initiatives, we aim to instil in our students a deep sense of social justice, a capacity to explore gender stereotypes and a desire to redress gender inequality within society.
- A deep regard for, and response to, the marginalised, with specific regard for First Nations people and those seeking refuge and asylum. The First Nations Program and Riverview Bursary Program at the College are expressions of this commitment.
